What is a ‘Thinking School’?

A thinking school is a school where:

  • All members of the community are involved in leading their own learning and continuously thinking about what good learning looks like
  • Children are always asking questions and are resolute in their pursuit of new experiences, knowledge and skills
  • The teaching of philosophy teaches children how to think critically, creatively, collaboratively and in a caring way
  • Continuous research into teaching and learning methods ensures the children’s experiences are of the highest quality
  • Children are asked to reflect, develop informed opinions and to care about the world and their place within it
  • Children teach others and recognise we are all unique teachers and learners
  • Children’s passions and interests shape a modern curriculum
  • All members of the school community are involved in making key decisions
  • We learn collaboratively-with and from each other
