There has been more success for St Lukes in Table tennis!
The Sussex schools Under 11 individual tale tennis tournament took place this month with Ryan Finley Jedd and Gwilym competing. There was an all St Lukes semi final as Finley took on Ryan for a place in the Final.
Ryan won through and triumphed in the finals to take a place at the National individual finals in April. An absolutely amazing achievement, well done Ryan!
Last weekend it was an early 5:30am start as the Under 11 school team travelled to Bristol to play the Southern Regional finals.
In this tournament the team of Ryan Finley Rafa and Gwilym faced teams from Coventry, London, and Taunton.
Under the watchful eye of their BTTC coach Theresa the boys started strongly, gaining 8-0 wins against Pearl Hyde school from Coventry and Taunton Prep school. In the last group of games they face Brandlehow school from Wandsworth. Both teams had not dropped a game all day. After some early nail biting games, including an impressive 3-2 win for Finley who came from 2 sets down against Brandlehows number 1 player, the Team powered through to take the final group 7-1.
All 4 boys showed amazing concentration, support and competitiveness throughout the day.
The Team has now qualified for the Finals of the National Team Championships, on April 3rd in Wolverhampton, placing them in the top 4 under 11 teams nationwide. Well done on this incredible achievement, it is a fitting testament to your hard work and training.
Special thanks must go to all the coaching staff at BTTC, but especially Theresa. She has been training the boys in after school club, coaching thoughout the matches and driving the boys to all the tournaments.
Good luck for April! Ryan competes in the individual Finals on Saturday 2nd and the Under 11 Team compete the next day on April 3rd.
